During his time with the Minnesota State Patrol\, he has been a patrol trooper\, SWAT team member\, firearms and crowd management instructor and public information officer. Captain Roeske holds a bachelor's degree in sociology from the University of Wisconsin-River Falls and a Master's of Science in Security Technologies from the University of Minnesota Technological Leadership Institute
