The keynote speaker will be Kevin Magnuson, Assistant County Attorney for Washington County, presenting on "Potential Liability for Businesses Related to COVID-19".
Kevin Magnuson is an Assistant Washington County Attorney, working primarily in the civil division but also on some cases involving financial crimes. Prior to joining the Washington County Attorney’s Office, he was in private practice for 20 years, focusing on complex business litigation, white collar criminal defense, constitutional law, campaign finance and election law, and attorney ethics and professional responsibility.
Kevin grew up in Lake Elmo, Minnesota, attended Wheaton College, where he received a B.A. in 1990. He was an officer in the U.S. Army during the First Gulf War. Following his service, he pursued a graduate degree in philosophy, first at the Phillips University Marburg in Germany and then at the Catholic University of Leuven in Belgium, from which he received a Licentiate (Masters) Degree in Philosophy. Kevin subsequently studied law at the University of Minnesota and the University of Leuven. After graduating from law school in 1999, he clerked at the European Commission, Directorate General for Competition, in Brussels before returning to the Twin Cities to practice law at the law firms of Briggs and Morgan, Robins, Kaplan, Miller & Ciresi, and Kelley, Wolter & Scott.
Kevin has lived in Lake Elmo since 2012 in his childhood home. He is married with a 9 year old daughter and a 6 month old baby boy.
